An effective solution is provided by Terminals (TE) with non-energy absorbing characteristics. Instead of bringing vehicles to a sudden stop, these systems redirect them in a controlled manner, thereby creating valuable reaction and braking distance for following road users.

The TE 80XA_17.9 terminal and the TE 80XA_4.1 end terminal, developed by REBLOC, were successfully tested according to the highest performance requirements of the new Technical Specification CEN/TS 1317-7:2023 with the standardized maximum impact speed of 110 km/h. This new document replaces the previous pre-standard ENV 1317-4:2001 and enables a more detailed assessment and classification of the performance of terminals. In addition to the standard tests, the TE 80XA_17.9 was also successfully tested at an impact speed of 130 km/h with a frontal, head-centered approach. Although this test is not part of the standardized test procedure, it serves as verification of the system’s performance under realistic highway speeds. Despite the significantly increased impact speed above the norm, all relevant parameters regarding impact severity and vehicle behavior were positively met. This patent-pending system impressively demonstrates that it can be used even under extreme yet real conditions on highways.
